Submitting the pupils’ work (option B)

Giving consent

Talking About Voices is part of a research project, and as well as being entered into the Talking About Voices competition, the podcast episodes sent to us will become part of our research, informing us about language and identity in the Greater Manchester area. This means that pupils should be able to choose whether they want to submit their finished episodes to us – although we strongly encourage them to do so! It also means that we need to gather consent for every pupil who chooses to send us their work.

Pupils who are 16 or over are able to provide their own consent, and they will be asked to fill in their own consent form.

Pupils who are under 16 are too young to legally be able to provide consent, and so we ask that you, as their teacher, provide in loco parentis consent on their behalf. We will also ask these younger pupils to fill in an assent form, showing that they are willing to take part.

If you have pupils taking part who are under 16, please use the button below to provide consent on their behalf.

Submit the pupils’ work to manchester.voices@mmu.ac.uk. You can send it using any file transfer system you like: e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or WeTransfer are all fine. Please include a message with your transfer, telling us your name, the name of your school, and the class whose work you are submitting. Please also attach a document containing the names of all of the pupils whose work you are submitting, beside the titles of their episodes, so that we can identify who the winning episodes belong to.

Please submit by Friday 1st April 2022 at the latest – this is the final deadline for the competition.

If an episode is selected as a winner, it will be made publicly available online, and may be broadcast on the radio and played on podcast feeds. We might do a bit of additional editing to get it ready for public release.
